    Tio Teo,

I have a random question. Why do so many Garifunas have the last name ‘Arzu?’ It means “desire” in Turkish. Is it just a coincidence that Arzu is a Turkish name? Or did we miss something in the history?

    Best,

    Victoria Arzu

Seremein for writing Victoria. I don’t know anything about the origins or the etymology of the last name ARZU. Other than that a LOT of Garifuna people have that last name, as you noted.

I will repost this question on http://www.beinggarifuna.com/blog and see if there is a response.
