Brooklyn, New York — Here is the speech I made upon being the recipient of The 2010 Garifuna Coalition Recognition Award.  I won the award as an acknowledgement of the impact and success The BEING GARIFUNA blog has had since it’s debut in February 2010.

Congratulations Teo on a very inspiring speech. It is one of if not the most inspiring and motivating speech by a Garifuna that I’ve heard in a long time. I am still hearing positive feedback from attendees that I’ve run into. Thanks for all your great work and congratulations for the well deserved award!

Thank you so much for the compliments on my speech at the 2010 Garifuna Coalition Yellow White and Black Gunchei Fundraiser Gala, GARIFUNA COALITION! It was an honor and I hope that I did justice to the honor with my speech.
