Was checking out different news stories on the 2010 Miss Universe Pageant when I discovered that the 2010 Miss Nicaragua is black. Her name is Scharllete Allen Moses, comes from Bluefields, Nicaragua and she will be competing in the 2010 Miss Universe Competition next week on Monday, August 23rd, 2010 in Las Vegas.

Hate to disappoint, but she is creole. I am friends with her brother (local dancehall artist Kila B) and they were born and raised in Bluefields.
But, she may make an appearance at the annual Garifuna Day celebration on Nov. 18 in Orinoco! If you can make it, be there!
Thanks for writing about Scharllete Allen Moses, KC! It’s not a disappointment. I couldn’t help but be curious based on the circumstances. I have been told by one person from Nicaragua that she is not Garifuna but haven’t really confirmed it.
